4/20/07 the roots of 420 go back along way, appreciate the day, but get your facts straight… as for the hip hop community, many believe that drugs are a major influence to the culture. I doubt that, its quite the other way around, the community and music has influenced the drug. Some artists glorify the drug while others rally against it. Either way it is in the culture for better or for worse. 4/20 has been widely recognized as the national weed smoking holiday.

Snoop dogg is set to release a Horror film on May 4th, "rap-infused horror anthology" this film is set to display some of the aspects of hip hop and horror in a combined film. This press release is courtesy of hip hop press.com

Snoop Dogg is now facing charges for a past arrest from Oct 2006 arrest at California’s Burbank airport. The rapper was allegedly searched for a parking violation at an unloading dock at the airport. On Tues official charges were pressed for drug and gun possession. The search was dubbed unwarranted and all charges may be dropped on a future court date. The rapper could face up to four years in prison if convicted, he was charged in 1990 for illegal possession of drugs with the alleged intent to sell. With this felony charge on record, the time faced could be more of a reality. Although the search and seizure charges have not be officially confirmed it is thought that the most recent charges will be dropped due to poor procedure and the unlawful search of his vehicle. His arraignment is set for today to see if these charges will stick.

Snoop Dogg has cancelled his UK tour with Diddy because of a denied passport to the United Kingdom. Snoop was accused of getting in an altercation, after his last visit to the country, in an airport lounge. The Rapper has been denied a visa due to the “fear” that other events may ensue. This is appalling, the idea that he will not be allowed to tour here due to “fears” is just ridiculous, the revenue gained from the tour would have benefited both parties’ government and rapper alike. Does this mean that anybody who fights will now be denied entrance to the country? I think the decision to not allow Snoop a visa will damage the future of hip hop in Britain as other rappers will most likely avoid touring in the area as it is not worth the hassle. Will Snoop ever tour in Britain again? Who knows, but for now there won’t be a tour in the UK.
